Associate Attorney - Personal Injury
About This Role
Hillguard Injury Lawyers is seeking a motivated Associate Attorney to join our growing personal injury litigation team. You will manage a caseload of plaintiff-side personal injury matters from intake through trial, working alongside experienced trial attorneys who have recovered tens of millions for California clients. This is a high-impact role for an attorney who thrives in a fast-paced, client-first environment.
Responsibilities
- Manage a caseload of personal injury matters including auto accidents, slip-and-fall, premises liability, and catastrophic injury cases
- Draft and file complaints, motions, discovery requests, and settlement demands
- Conduct depositions, attend mediations, and represent clients at hearings
- Negotiate settlements with insurance adjusters and defense counsel
- Prepare cases for trial and assist lead counsel during jury trials
- Communicate regularly with clients to provide case updates and set expectations
- Collaborate with paralegals and case managers on case strategy and documentation
Requirements
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school
- Active membership in the California State Bar in good standing
- 2-5 years of civil litigation experience, preferably plaintiff-side personal injury
- Strong legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills
- Experience with discovery, depositions, and motion practice
- Ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously with attention to detail
- Excellent client communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Trial experience (first or second chair)
- Familiarity with medical terminology and records review
- Experience with case management software (Filevine, Litify, or similar)
- Bilingual English/Spanish
